liquifire carb cleaner
I was wondering if i could just pull both carbs off the liquifire engine and clean them and then put them back on. This guy i know thinks that you have to sycronize them before puting them back on. and you have to have a sycronizer to do it. I have told him that he could pull them off clean them and put them back on. tell me if im wrong or not?

What you have been told is partially correct. Here is the proper procedure.
To remove the carbs:
-remove airbox
-unscrew the top off of the carbs and pull out the throttle slides and protect them
-remove the choke cables and protect the plunger on the end of the cables
-remove carbs and clean thoroughly
install carbs and cables then,
Looking from the rear of the carb to the rubber mounting, there is a thumb screw with a slot in it for a screwdriver, which is the idle adjuster on the left side of the carb.
-Loosen the cables on both carbs at the top adjuster
-Loosen the idle adjuster and seat the throttle slide in the bottom of the carb
-Turn in the adjuster until a slight resistance is felt while placing a finger on the slide as the adjuster is turned.
-Turn the adjuster another 4 turns
-Set both carbs in the same manner
-hold the throttle lever against the handlebar with a rubber band or tape
-look inside the rear of both carbs and adjust the cables so the front bottom edge of the slide is flush with the top portion of the slide bore of the carb
-Set both carbs the same way.
-Remove rubber band or tape and see if throttle slides close to idle adjuster
The carbs are synchronized fairly close at this point but the idle speed could be off. Adjust both idle screws together to set idle
-install airbox
-warm up engine and set idle speed

liquifire carb cleaner
so i can't just clean them and throw them back on and hook up the cables and go. I have to snycronize. Why ask is we have a little bit of a wager on this. If you could just simply remove the carbs pull the boot off and clean all ares and holes with carb cleaner. then put them back on and hook them up and go.

Redneckchicken,
You can do anything you want, it's your sled. Keep in mind, everytime you remove the slides from the top of the carb, the length of the cables may change slightly. It is easy enough to check by the previous stated method. If you want optimum performance from the engine, check the syncro of the carbs. If you have never had this done before, I highly recommend it . This should be checked in the begining of every sleding season.
