74 John deer 300 piston rings

Post by daisydukers »

Looked up the part number on JD parts
Piston ring = AM52529

No longer available....contact your dealer for other options..

Contacted the local JD dealer....no go...Gave them the Kohler number of 39-108-02...That wasnt in their system.

Anyone got any leads as to where I could buy a new set of rings.

According to the parts diagram the JDX4 and the 300 use the same rings....Does this seem right to you?

That makes sence to me, but that would only be for the 73 JDX 4's which used the same Kohler K295-2AX as the 300. In 74, the X4 (special) had the KEC 340/5 and in 75 the KEC 340/22 Reed Valve Engine.

As far as I know only one place in the U.S. to get pistons and rings for those sleds...but first thing is to get it all apart and see what you need, also now is a good time to replace all the gaskets and seals if your going to go though with it. I'm about ready to throw my 76 in the bush...fought with it all day trying to get the Walbro with the new kit to poump up gas...no go..the Tilstons I tried wouldn't run it...must be off something way different....

If you get desperate I have 2 complete cyls with pistons/rings that look to be in very good shape..$50 a side

I've got a nice deep dugout pond on my property if you wanna sink it instead of dragging it into the bush...I have gotten to the point where I just wanna light mine on fire and watch her burn.....

The sad part is all I wanted was a sled to pull wood outta the bush, Dragging the wood sled by hand is getting old REALLY fast.
