If you are using paint with hardener ( and most of the automotive type is ) you need a supplied air system, the bad stuff cannot be filtered out. That or shoot it outside, and stand up wind. Don't laugh, Campbell does this, and his work looks great!

Wont there be a problem with dust and other stuff getting in the paint? What about doing it with both overhead doors open? What is in the hardener that is harmful?

As far as paint goes, I know at least on hood is going to be JD green. If I buy a quart at the dealer is this paint suitable for spraying or do I have to go and get it mixed at an automotive supply store? What is the requirements for paint, I know that there is a few colours that match up almost perfectly to some tremclad colours.

If you buy paint from John Deere or tremclade you don't need hardner, only if you buy true automotive professional paint. You must be painting an 00 are you ? or a black LF?

As for painting outside....DON't T DO IT!! LOL....I did my very first car that way....nothing like trying to sand out every bug in the country that came in for a sniff..., not to mention moving the sled back in you chance rubbing the new paint job.

Well if things go good, I have a 74 400 hood to do. Tremclad medium blue is almost a perfect match for the 69-71 OMC's, I don't think I will do one of my 70 cruisers this year but they might be in the future.
