Anyone know what some of the old jd bicycles are worth a friend of mine just told me his uncle has a couple from the 70's

if they are mint and the right bike they can bring like $100 to the right person but otherwise they are not worth that much. they were made in china with deere's name on them so they are kinda crappy bikes. i have one and i think its worth like $10. they can bring between $10 and $50 i believe to the right person (a Deere collector). there are usually a couple on ebay and way overpriced

JD bikes can bring far more than $100. It all depends on condition and the model.

Boy's and girl's Stingray style bikes are always popular and bring good money. Any of the bikes in blue paint are worth more money also as few were sold.

I've seen a girl's NOS Stingray bicycle seat bring over $300 on Ebay as most are destroyed. These seats have flowers on them and JOHN DEERE on them so it would be hard to find any replacement. I've never seen an NOS girl's bicycle basket for sale, if I had I would own it.(!)

Most bikes from most areas also have a fair amount of rust so that's another problem. Factor in faded or rusty paint and frames, general deterioration overall and yes, some bikes don't bring a lot of money. They're a lot of work to restore that's for sure.

Another good item if you locate it are the bike accessories such as headlights, speedometers, tire pumps, water bottles, luggage racks, etc. I sold a spare NOS water bottle and it brought over $50 so I thought that was good. Another good item to find is the dealer's factory OTC tool kit, just like sleds tools, OTC made bike tools. Most dealers had one so it might be worth checking.

deeredr, thanks for correcting me i forgot about the stingray bikes and they are worth money. i just did some quick searching and it looks like they were sold from 73-76 and about 200,000 were made. also i think they may have been made in Japan and not China like i said before. sorry if i provided any wrong information just going on my memory from a few years ago when i got mine. i would say if you could get it cheap do. i have a white men's racer, its always in the way it seems but they are pretty cool.

As with anything, it always depends on finding the core group interested in something. I once had a fellow come by our dealership who asked if we might have any old Monkey Grip foil tire patches, guess he collected them. Well I did and he left a happy man. They had literally been sitting in our tire shop for decades as we were afraid to use them due to their age!
So there's always someone for everything, the skill comes in locating and making the connection.
Bikes in general, similar to JD sleds, are rising in interest as the lawn and garden line gains collectors.

So quick JD bike "buy" suggestion-buy JD stingray and blue bicycles! Also any NOS accessories and tools.

thanks for the info. I am hoping to meet with the guy in a week or so. He raced the 340/s in the 75 season and has some newspaper articles. And i hope he can remember what happen to the sled. He thought the guy down the rode might still have it, he said he saw him riding it 10 years ago.
