I have for sale what I am told is an 80 Liquifire that was built in the JD r-d dept. It has a 3 cylinder fugi 500 cc motor with triple pipes and 38mm carbs which all look to be factory installed. I was told that the r-d dept was testing different engines in the liquifires and that this was one of 2 put together, the other having a Yamaha engine. The sled is still in like new condition, runs great. I rode it once and it totally rips. If you are interested in this sled call for more info. DO NOT email me simply asking for pics. CALL ME 218-393-5251 days or 906-475-9286 eves. TIM asking 2750.00

Easiest way to tell any proto type or R+D sled is to look at the vin#.If it has a vin# it was a production sled....Ed

I remember seeing a 80 LF with a Fugi motor someone had put in on ebay. (I think it was a 500cc) They did a nice job, but stated it was put in. Maybe the same sled????

answer is no they played with ccw and kawasaki engines in liquifire (79 prototype was 500 ccw engine never put in production) the kawasaki wasnt ready for 79 year as frame has to be redesigned.

85 prototype had the 550 kawasaki engine all record regarding prototypes say destroyed. prototype vins are 0000 and 0001 serial. no letters no other numbers.

on lighter side polaris did experiment with some of the jd stock they got so its possible a prototype made by polaris if anything just not really a jd.

I doubt it because:
A: Deere was real good about not letting prototypes out of their hands
B: Why would they test it with pipes? They would be testing for a production model before they would test a race model I would think.

A good metalworker can make anything look like it belongs.
