battery box mount

Post by RSplash40 »

Over the last year I've accumulated the parts needed to get electric start hooked up on my trailfire. I've got the right part number box according to the parts catalog and it looks to only install one way. When I test fit it last night it hit the belt shield and wouldnt sit properly.

Was there a special belt shield or did they remove it for the electric start models? I only found one in the parts catalog. There are some bolts welded in to the box, not sure what those are for either.

thanks

big bolt is for mounting the solenoid, small bolt is for the circuit breaker and the bent tab with hole is for rectifier.

it mounts on the drivers side front and yes the belt guard hits it. a common fix for this was to weld a hinge onto box and trim the belt guard to fit to hinge.

Man they came from the factory like that? Wow, too bad I couldnt get the box off and weld it back on a inch to the front.

I had the same problem when I added electric start to my sportfire over the summer. I actually bent my belt gaurd to fit and it looks like ****. Im going to do some cutting and grinding and so on.
