Did you have a part number for the Kimpex ones you liked? They list a high windshield and then a low one but only for the 79 trailfireJoeRainville wrote:Matt,
The best ones I have found are the polycarbonate low ones from Kimpex. The softer "uvex" ones sold by SnoStuff are not well liked at all. Even the shorter ones fold down in the middle and warp. I have a low one made by Jeff Haugen of Cannon Classics, and it's pretty nice, and fit OK. The one I ran on my I-500 sled is actually a mid-hieght Trailfire unit, but I would love to find a high quality "Cross Country" one with the side flairs. Darn cold at -20 and 60 mph.

06-706 is the Kimpex standard height for fire series. The application data is misleading. Same for the Sno-stuff 450-706.

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken about any of this, but my understanding was that there were three different height windshields offered by Deere. The shortest was the "sport style" (AM55051), which was standard on Liquifires and Sportfires. The medium height (AM55050) was standard on certain model year Trailfires. Cross Country (AM55084) was the tallest offered as an accessory (possibly standard on later year Trailfires). Any of these windshields could be used on any of these sleds (the middle tab needed to be cut off on some models).
To further confuse things I believe they changed the look of the windshields slightly for the 83+ models and those windshields carried the same part number as the earlier windshields.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is I have thought that the 06-706 is close to AM55050 (mid height) and 06-708 is close to AM55084 (cross country). If you want the low version Cannon Classics is currently the only choice. I haven't asked but I believe Jeff can do the 80-82 and 83-84 versions of the sport windshield.

Got word that New Breed Parts can get them directly from Kimpex, but they haven't given me availability. I'm sure I'll get the same result as smitfire. I'll add them to the store next time I'm updating.
