340/s tail pipe

hello all, is the tailpipe under the tunnel on a 340/s part of the tuning of the pipe ? any thoughts ? wade

Wader,

My assumption would be that it is very similar to the pipe on my 800 with the exception of the fact that the shape is totally different. The tuning is done in the stinger, all the muffler is used for is to reduce sound levels.

Wade my thoughts on the tailpiece is that it was used more for the sound level to the rider.Not a tunnig or performance piece.I think the increased rpm levels of this engine were probablly more noticeable to the rider than other machines.So they routed the tailpiece in a way that it would direct the sound under the sled rather than in you ear.Someone else may have better info,Just my 2cents worth.Brock

thanks guys my thoughts is that it will have absolutely nothing to do with performance but i have to assume anything wade
