head gasket 340 liquifire
Wayne,
I am not the one to answer any high performance questions. I don't know how much can be shaved off the head and still be safe. The gasket serves 2 purposes on the liquifire. First, it seals the combustion chamber, second it seals the water jacket since the engine coolant flows thru the head and around the cylinders.
The stock exhaust pipe was tuned for the best performance for that engine. The only other pipes that I know would work with good results are a set of dator pipes or one set made by Aien(?). The carbs will have to rejetted once the exhaust is changed.
The compression on a rebuilt stock engine should 120-130 psi for the 76 340 liquifire.
The center foam cover is the same for the later 00,X, and cyclone series snowmobiles.
Rebuild and maintain your liquifire for what it is, a 76 vintage snowmobile and you will enjoy it alot longer. If you want a faster sled, buy a newer one.
