John Deere Trailfire Clutch Puller

Post by johndeere48401 »

I just got a 1981 440 John Deere Trailfire and wanted to pull the primary clutch off. I know there is a specific tool for this job and I wanted the specifications of the tool so I can machine one out.

Any Information would be appreciated THANKS

Can't wait for the snow !! :letitsnow:

Welcome aboard. Unless you are using tool-steel or plan on hardening it, fabricating a tool is not recommended. The thread pitch is 3/4 by 16. I'll look around a picture with dimensions.

As far as I know, any Comet pullers still out on the market are leftovers from the original Comet. I don't have a resource for new ones until CPC is making them again (if they ever do).

Dennis Kirk still sells them. I bought one awhile back and it was $37, they are now pushing $50.

Moto Source in Greenbay has them too.
