Is that Bob's Viking helmet in the background? We really need to do an intervention.

Re: 1983 Liquifire
A Saturday morning at Don's garage was very rewarding. We got changed out the carb boots (to the short ones), put the drive and driven clutches on. The radiator now has antifreeze in it. The airbox and gastank are on and the muffler is hooked up. We are about ready to get this baby started (tomorrow afternoon). Some good news is I finally got to sit on it with the new shock - ahhhh very nice.

Re: 1983 Liquifire
I posted this in the tech forum, but thought I would go fishing here too.
Do any of you have a schematic for installing an electric start on this sled. I picked up an 83 liq that has electric start, but the motor is already out of it. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Sean

Re: 1983 Liquifire
The sled is 99% completed, I would say 100 percent but we still have the electric start to install this summer. I have a lot of people to thank, Bob Amber for rebuilding the carburetors. Jay Lee for painting the hood for me and installing the decals on the hood. Tom Keily for helping out on getting the motor just right. All of you here on JD Sleds for your knowledge that you shared without hesitation. Brad Wheelock for the lead on where I could find a rebuilt motor. And last but not least, Don Amber. Without Don this project would not have gotten done. Don is very meticulous in what he does and I learned a lot working by his side. The word "craftsman" would almost be an insult in describing Don. You have definitely impressed me and I can not wait to be your apprentice on the next project.
I took the first ride on her tonight and I got to tell you, this baby is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Deycore shock responds immediately for my large frame (nice way to say fat ass). The studded track and the composite skis make it feel like I am hugging the snow (even a chopped up No Till wheat field). You hit the gas and the front skis are off the ground at least a foot and then you feel like you are hanging on to a rocket.
On a side note, I rode for about 40 minutes and the temp gauge never even came close to the red.
Here are some pics Don took for me.
Thank you to everyone!

Re: 1983 Liquifire
Shawn,
Congrats on completing the sled. I still think the 83 has the best looking decal package of the 80-84 Liquifires, and your sled reinforces that all the more. Well done guys!
