liquifire 1980-84

Post by cmr »

Looking to see if anyone will share how they are doing the hydraulic brake confersion on the 1980-84 liquifire. Would like to do to my 1981 liquifire and would like to wreck the least amount of parts as possible.
Thanks chris

Well, there are many ways, but this seems like the best to me. You'll need this caliper:

This master cylinder:

You will also most likely need to have a spacer made that goes between the chain case and the caliper, brake line, and a pressure switch to mount in your brake line for your brake lights. Its not really a cheap upgrade, but worth it i'd say.

Thanks, have you done it? If so looking for a picture of the chain case to see how the mounting would go. Thinken would have to cut most of the old mechanical off.

I have not done it on mine yet, but i plan to. I saw Wade's setup. You only use the outer half of the caliper and you just leave the Deere brake pad in the chaincase. The caliper is the same bolt pattern as the stock mechanical one. I bet we can get wade to post us a picture.

A Polaris Indy Trail caliper bolts right on.You only use Half the caliper. Use the JD stock inside pad. Wahl brothers racing sells a Kelsey Hayes Caliper, the same as a Polaris. I put a 87? Polaris Trail I bought for $20. Sorry, no pics.. Haven't figured out how to post pics on this site.
