1972 400 - seat

Post by rtraut1964 »

Thanks to all for the information on 1972
I see from the discusion it appears that the original seat on this machine has molded pleats.
Does anyone make this original cover ?
What would the cost be ?

Thanks

No one has come up with a way to make an affordable original cover yet. John's Upholstery is a JDsleds.com sponsor - he does a very good job of matching the shape and lines of the original seat, but it's sewn, not molded, and it doesn't have the pleats.

Thanks,

looks like the seat is almost impossible to have a original made
Do you have any contacts to find a good kill switch and light switch covers, I just need the rubber part if possible

May I ask what your plans are with the 72 400 . Is it a fixeruper or a restoration. yes a tach was an option.

The correct tach for a 72 had a chrome trim ring.
This is the only year that used that tach but newer ones will work.

I did a full restoration on this machine. The dash that was with the sled only came with only a speedometer gauge. It has a cut out for a tack but I'm not sure if it was original to have a tach. I did get a seat made but it does not have the pleats in it. Trying to make it as original as possible.
