Finally a 445 in the garage!

Post by 427cobra »

Ive always wanted one of these... Now with the purchase of a new place I finally need one! I'll change the fluids, filters, spark plugs and Ill be ready to mow! The 60" deck will hopefully make short work of the lawn... :beers;

445 should be EFI? You'll like that. I think they even have cruise control haha
Many new and used parts available, I ship anywhere. Thanks everyone.

Nice machine. I played with lots of these when I worked at the JD dealer.

Hey, What's the story on the old Ford tractor in the background? Thanks, Curt

Yep it has EFI and cruise control. Looking forward to mowing some grass with it! From what I hear the 445's are pretty reliable machines. Anyone know of anything I should pay close attention to with it?

Its in the father-in-law's shed. Thats his Ford in the back ground....uses it for snow and leveling the gravel diveway.

It looks like a nice tractor. How many hours on the clock?

Grease the deck anti - scalp wheels frequently.

Get ready to install your favorite tape to keep the orange reflectors in place so they don't get mowed over.

Put small sheet metal screws into the tailight housings from the bottom side and against the fender to keep the housings from vibrating out. I think new ones cost $40 each minus the lens.

If it's like 455's, reverse is painfully slow. You can tweak the reverse pedal shaft clockwise a couple degrees to enhance the situation.

The side panels are pretty fragile at the corners and will crack if you drop them.....or sometimes if you don't. The lower retaining tabs that engage the frame usually break off.

Be careful opening and closing the hood. They tend to crack at the front, especially at the corners near the headlights.

Long story short, the tractor will be good mechanically but the plastic parts are brittle and cheap until you get to buy replacements.
