honda ct 70 mini bike

i just got a 1979 honda ct70 trailbike. its red. i cant get it to go into nuetrel. its always in gear no matter witch way u change the gears. any body no how i can get it to go into neutral so i can start it? really wanna get this bike going. specs say it has 3 speed trassmission. so what way is it? up shift or down shift?

You say 3 speed trans.. clutchless automatic? if so N is all the way down.

HELP! now i have the tire pumped up and since there is no kick start on it i am trying to push start it. but its not working. there is lots of spark and lots of gas. so im guessing either compression or something with the valves on it. i dont no much about valves so any help would be great thanks for looking and any idies would be great to hear. Also i guess its an 80 model not a 79. just says 79 cuz it was manufatured then and sold as a 80. same as all the deere sleds.

did you ever get it into neutral??? the shifter usually goes down into first than up over neutral into 2nd and then 3rd. About trying to start it it has to be in eaither 1st or 2nd. Also a BIG hill helps if its stubburn if not just run and move the throttle or spray sterting fluid into it and try to push it and see if it will run. Starting fluid will start everything.

right now i have it all torn apart. im thinking theres no compression so im cheacking out everything inside. so far every thing looks great in it but im not to far in it yet.once i get it back together ill find my either thats somewear in the garage. and hopefully after that it runs.

Ok get back to me on that. Also if the starter nub is there just attach something to it if worst comes to worst use the shifter. But make sure it is in nuetral before you take it off that way when you put it back on you dont screw up your gears.

well its all put back together. but still will not run.

i donno if it dosnt have any compression or if its out of time. this bike is starting to be a really big downer. jeese most hondas dont matter what condition there in you kick them over and they run! mines an odd ball one. im out of ideas any one have any why it wont go?

Sorry to hear the trouble with your honda. I have a neighbor that took his complete runner apart to make money selling stuff on EBAY. Tried to tell him in this case the whole thing would probably be more cash as a whole machine to collectors. To date he has sold very little off of it and believe he may still have the motor complete runner for $100 less shipping. can get his contact info if you want we live in CT
