Orange Skiroule !!

Post by jdrob »

I have been looking for one of these for a long time. They don't turn up very often and I think they are very cool looking ! Left yesterday morning sat 28th at 3am to head for michigan to pick this up. I initially wanted it for myself but I passed it along to my dad for his collection. It will eventually end up here with me anyway but for now its dad's. He bought it from a newer member here, who is a really nice guy and enjoys the snowmobiles of all kinds including Deere!
The sled has very low miles 565 and is very straight. In this condition it is in now I would def consider it a project. On my way happen I happen to lose the seat :bonk: which is not really a big deal b/c I have a very nice replacement. I emailed Matt the pics of it so hopefully he can post them for me ! I tried once and it didn't work ! Grrr enjoy 1974 Ski roule RTW wankel rotary. :usa:

Rob,

Thanks for showing us your wankel!!

So are these known as ditch pumpkins instead of ditch pickels?

All joking aside. Looks like a neat project. I have always thought anything with a wankel is neat.

I had a 73 RTW and it was green.

I sold it to Dan Pickenpough who has it in his musem in CO.

If you are going to ride this a set of ski spreaders will save your a$$.

Yeppers ! Matt Skiroule actually built a sled back in 68' that used the wankel also It was the 300w model ! I don't recall ever seeing one in person ! I am sure they are all bought up and on display somewhere ! :bonk: or laying in a field rusted into the ground ! :lol22:

Personaly I love the Wankel powered machines.
I have several Cats with the 303 and a couple wth the 295.

Just for trivia's sake there were 15 brands of sleds that used a rotary engine.
Although most engines ended up in Cats.
Along with the Skiroules who can name the other 13 brands?

Hint: there were some larger rotories....

Correct Matt. So that makes six so far.

The OMC machines had the 45hp Rotary option.
That was huge concidering the stock 303 was about 20 hp.

So only nine more to name.....
