Re: 77 liquifire
I would run that. As long as there is no endplay at the crank, re-seal and run it.

Re: 77 liquifire
Guys i was going to run motor as it was. However pulled reeds and noticed a fair bit of rust. So going through engine. I noticed in gasket kits the water manifold gasket on head not in packaging and the water pump gaskets. Does anyone know if available or do u have to make?

Re: 77 liquifire
It does look like the rust never affected the crank bearings. Mostly surface. The oil and gas dried to a hard varnish like substance. Worst one ive seen from fuel. I have a new set of pistons I’ll put in. Bores look good I’ll give quick hone should be like new.

Re: 77 liquifire
Well guys i had to open up the 440Lc to clean bottom end and reseal. Shes all back together and doing some minor chassis repairs before I install. The only hiccup i had was one new piston had a smaller groove cut on top ring land on left piston. Spi pistons. Ended up using the old ring which actually fit. The bottom ring was fine. It had good compression when I took apart but i had pistons so thought what the heck. Also found a waterpump cover with minimal damage.

Re: 77 liquifire
Thanks Brian. Im having trouble getting my speedo to work. It’s turning the opposite direction. Did the liquifire have a different speedo drive? The ones i have all run clockwise. This one’s counter clockwise. I have a spare speedo its counter clockwise also. The speedo cable turn clockwise. I need counter clockwise.

Re: 77 liquifire
Direct drive sleds used the reversed speedo drives. There's a lot of new ones out there because there were a ton of Spitfire speedometer kits left over.

Re: 77 liquifire
Well i took the right angle drive off jdx8 and spare speedo but it goes in wrong direction of both speedos i have. The speedo that was in sled and another jdx8 speedo. Did the 76-78 liquifire have the same as spitfire drive?
Re: 77 liquifire
A JDX8 Speedo and angle should work on that sled I believe.
It's looking real good! Nice job! One question on your CDI... Did it come with that or did you install the CDI? I've only ever seen the aftermarket Prestolite and the Hewtech Fire Plug. The first pic is the original Prestolite, but the aftermarket ones look very similar. Second one shows the Fireplug.

Re: 77 liquifire
My jdx8 was the fire plug update but i had to do stator. The liquifire says its a snostuff ignition so I assume that’s after market. When i put the drive from jdx8 and the speedo it’s turning the wrong way. Not sure why.
