Suspension removal?

Post by 79 Spitfire »

I don't need heat to get them out because I have a impact. I'm just a little weezy about snappin the bolt off if it's to tight in the suspension.

Well it might be worth it to get the skid out at all costs. Get everything taken care of and not have to worry about it at a later time. You might need new cross shafts if the bolts are that tight into them.

There not hard to make if you have a lathe or know someone that does. If things are that seized up the shafts might be toast also. That's worst case won't know until they come out.

Well good news the bolts came out with ease with a impact, I still have them in to hold the suspension up and will get around to dropping it sometime next week after I build my homemade workbench this weekend.

Well I got anxious tonight and drop the suspension. It went good, so I mover on to the bolt that hold on the idler wheel that is broke. Well the son of a ***** broke off, but I got the shaft out that its bolted on and am going to drill it and tap it sometime. Other than that everything looks ok.

Suspension removal?

Getting it back in is always a pain. If your suspension has a front spring adjustment, back the tension off before trying to install, and of course make sure your rear idlers are as far forward as they can be.

Hey I got my suspension back on. Just wondering how tight the track should be because it is pretty darn tight.

I sheared off the bolts that hold the drive sprockets on the shaft..so it could end up being an easy fix.....everything in the gearbox and drive looks fine  :beers; :sled:
