I will have to get a can of something tomorrow from the hardware store in town and coat the top. Oh and I scored a free riding mower from grandmas today .

LP tanks, roofing shingles, bentonite bags, sand for sand blaster & tires
Rich,

What do you use the clay for? I have been using it in labs to measure hydraulic conductivity of soils but doubt thats a common use for the material.

I guess we will call it soil science. Municipal Engineering Technologist. Our uses are similar, you can seal a bore hole above and below a certain area and then measure how fast the ground water moves through the area and pore pressure in the soil etc. This data can then be used for a wide variety of things, the latest topic covered was how fast ground water is contaminated by leachate seeping from a landfill. I was curious to your use as some clays mostly montmorilinite has a few uses with livestock and food applications.

As a side note, one of my instructors conducted test trying to use bentonite to seal nuclear waste underground. I'm not sure if they had deemed it successful or not.

Sounds like your getting a lot done Rich. I haven't had much time to do much with graduation coming on the 22nd of this month. Looks like my mom is pretty interested in me re-shingling the roof soon. Won't take to long to do that.

Good Luck

Exactly, Jim...completed studding of west parts area wall yesterday...moved things around and installed it today. It sure takes a lot of empty floor space to nail the wall studding flat (horilontal)...then stand it up and get it into place. Mary has been helping when I need an extra hand.

Time has been available due to wet weather...just when it gets dry enough to get to the field...more rain. On the up side, 1st cutting of hay will be great. I can cut the clover/grass mix as soon as weather allows.

To much rain? sounds like us we have just got crops in about 2 weeks ago. Everything is just getting behind now days with the weather and economical situation.
