LF airboxes

Post by sledchad »

Hey guys! I know a lot of guys with 80"s + LF"s sometimes seem to be missing their airboxes. I know they have to have them on regardless. I had a guy bring me a 80 LF and it had the power jet carbs with the pod airfilters. His motor had no compression he said. My concern is where did all these sleds air boxes go? Since day 1 of production of these sleds didnt deere say anything to guys about never running a LF without the original airbox because the PJ wont work and then you"ll get a lean condition. I thought the airboxes comming right from the factory looked different..didnt you have to cut something out? I"m not sure what it was but i heard of this. My guy wants me to find some non PJ carbs that are 36"s and rebuild the motor.
