I was wondering if some of the cylinders off of a Kawi Jet Ski would be adaptable to a Liquifire crankcase (650 would be great) Along with a properly adapted IFS and new rear supension would make a really neat project for cast- off parts from a restoration. Anybody familiar with Jet Skiis?

I've looked at a few Jet Ski motors, and haven't found one of "T-7" architecture that would bolt onto a LF block. Even the Kawi 530cc wet bike motor is different from the 530cc "550 Interceptor" motor, but some of the internals are close for those "Square block" motors. I think the pistons even have a different pin diameter.

Most of the late model Kawi Jet Ski's have case reed motors, so none of the parts fit the older sled motors. Also, I believe Jet Ski motors are tuned for lower RMP torque than the sled motor, requiring a lot of port work to make them rev up. Also, the Jet Ski's have 90 degree intake and exhaust manifolds, making adapting the entire motor a pain, but anything is possable with enough effort...

Good Luck,

didnt the older kawi ski motors like the 440"s look identical to the motor they used in the LF"s?

Just my 2cts. But on the kawasakitrax site someone has gone though all this and has found that the jet ski pistons are simular to the sled pistons. In this case they were working on the 530cc and yes the pin was smaller but there was a bearing that someone on that site that had located that would make it all work out. They to are trying to find alot of the same parts as us for the motors. Anyone would love to get there hands on a 530 and drop it in a Liquifire I bet.

Chad,

The original poster was looking for a larger top end to put on a 440 bottom end was my guess. Again, I am pretty sure the Jet Ski motors are ported for lower RPM running, but I am not a Jet Ski expert.

Brice, I know what you are talking about. You can bush the crank on the 530cc Square block Intercepter motor to take the Jet Ski piston, as the sled versions are hard to find. By the way, Wade did drop an interceptor motor into his "82 Liquidator" project. That has to be fun!

Later Liquidator!

what did this wade have to do to get the 550 to work in the liquifire ?is it a big undertaking or does it fit bretty good? i'am going to try to make a wildfire or something like that going to take yamaha pogo front suspension from a phazer i got for parts and going to put the 550 motor in it. i got an artic cat rear suspension out of an 98 EXT now . going to make a big hood scoop like the dator and paint the sled with met green and met yello flames and rest of her will be met black. going to put some green piping in the new black seat and i'am going to call it the liquigator              ::

Ive seen pics of a lf with pogostick setup I have a printed out pic but none on the hard drive. Id say if your gonna stuff a 550 in a lf and the cat suspension you better see about getting a cat track on there also with some lugs if you want any traction. Id look for an exciter 570 front end to be a donor for the pogo as they say wider is better. The phazer is probably skinnier than a fire belly pan. I parted out 2 exciters and swapping the pogo setup really didnt look all that hard if your a good welder and can keep the steering angles right.

my liquifire already has a 1998 artic cat E X T suspension in it. with the artic cat track it has 180 studs in it .and it has a 108 c artic cat clutch on the motor with a red spring in it right now. you can see all of this on the home page of jdsleds.com all in all a very nice riding sled with good power. but that 550 will make it a nice riding sled with( holy **** man!) power and i hope the pogo will help this all out to. . thanks dan

Are you talking about the Frappr pictures at the top of the page 83Black? I'd like to see more pics of your sled.

Too bad about the differences although a 530 motor is still a pretty decent bit of power.
