Re: trailfire motors
i dont believe there were any mechanical changes (pistons, cylinders, crankshaft, crankcase, heads) over the years other than the addition of oil injection and some changes with the ignition system. i'm not sure if adding kawasaki heads to the trailfire will increase HP like it does with the liquifire.- but i would assume that they didnt bother changing them as i havent heard of anyone putting kawasaki heads on a trailfire.
i dont have all the part catalogs needed to know for sure but from the manuals that i have i didnt notice any major changes in the trailfire engine.

Re: trailfire motors
here is some information i found out...There was a change in the piston & ring design from 1979 to 1980 on both the 340 & 440 Trailfire.
On the 1982 Trailfire LX, there was a change in the cylinder head gasket (to a copper ring simular to the Sportfire). This required different cylinders & cylinder studs as well as the new head gasket. These "F" engines also developed about 5% more H.P.
