Sprintfire Limiter Strap, and Gas Tank

Post by guitardude081 »

Just got the Sprint suspension rebuilt, and I'm curious. With the limiter strap off, the ride height seems like it would be higher. I'm wondering why you would need the strap. I just fabricated a new inner sleeve for the rear arm, and had to do some serious welding on the outer, plus the hour I have into honing the inner parts of those sleeves, so I don't want to wreck anything. My other question is what to use to clean the gas tank. I have a bucket of nuts and bolts for agitation, but what to I use for a chemical?

Jeff, I finally got to Benny's. He's got a great setup. He's wondering when you're gonna pick up the 500. The only problem I have with the place, is that I want to buy everything deere I see. He's got a lot of good ones. I'm thinking about his Sportfire.

I saw the Sprint. I wanted a good hood, but the one on there is as bad as mine as far as the cracks and fading. The suspension wasn't bent, and it has the kill switch I need. I'm might buy it in May so I can use it for parts, and an extra tunnel. No motor though. The sport was in the area behind his shop If you're looking west from the rack w/ the crushed trailfire. His buddy told me it was a relatively new arrival. I want to buy one of his TXL indys. He has like 3 now, and between them you could make 1 1/2 functional sleds. The 500's w/ the IFS are a relatively rare find. I may buy the 81 El Tigre under the tarp. His buddy said he doesn't want much for it. He wants $75 for the Sprintfire, and he has a motor for it in the motor room. It was running when it was pulled. If you want a Sprint, now's your chance because you could get a good one for probably $250 at the most. I forgot the price he told me for the motor, but it was low and I think it was based on the fact that I knew you because he knows the TC340E is impossible to find parts for. I'll give you a call this week w/ more details. I finally got the Sprint to where it'll make it on the trails. The Liq blew a CDI, and I don't want to putz with it anymore. You and me got it tuned to where it should be, so I'm not worried about it anymore. If I don't get a buyer, it'll be ready and rarin' to go first snowfall this fall. I have a 76 Liq to play with now.
