replacement carb for 340 kohler

Post by tnc110 »

Looking to replace the carb on a 340 kohler f/a. It currently has the butterfly carb. What carb out there would be a good replacement? Also its a spitfire...green with 3 bolt carbides and butterfly carb...does that make it a 78 or 79...thought the 79 had butterfly with 2 bolt carbides, but the 78 had slide carb with 3 bolt carbides?

The 78 Spits came with a 32 MM round slide Mikuni these are a way better carb than the butterfly ones, I you can find a 78 in a salvage yard or someone parting one out, to get the carb & I believe you will need the throttle cable also.
I would purchase a new rubber carb mount, & also clean the carb thoroughly as probably whatever you find will be very dirty.. & the rubber mounts get hard & crack over the years..
You might post an add in the classified section as someone on this board might have just what your looking for..
