Dator needle bearings

Post by 80spitfire »

Hey everybody,

I'm getting ready to rebuild my Dator motor this summer and so far I have everything tracked down for the rebuild including all NOS pistons and gaskets which I'm super stoked about. However I still need to track down some needle bearings for the top end. Does anybody happen to know where you can get some? Either NOS or modern replacements are fine too.

Thanks guys,
Brian

Is a LF bearing the same as a Dator bearing? They're different part numbers but I don't know maybe they do work. Anyone know if they work?

Dator bearings are 19mm & only used on the Dators.. You need 2 AM54125

Yeah that's the same part number I came up with. I assumed that it wasn't the same as the LF since virtually nothing on that motor is used on anything else but the recoil pawls. So do you know of anywhere you can get them from? Does Jerome have any?

Thanks,
Brian

Oh that's too bad I thought for sure Jerome would have them. You're right though Wiseco might be a really good idea. Thanks for checking Kenny I really appreciate it.

The bearings were not included with the pistons? Do you have the first or second generation pistons?

i would certainly mic them out and check out other deere roller bearings. I took a NOS cyclone engine apart at the same time I went thropugh the lower end of a 77 liquifire. The parts were the same as my 77 liqiufire engine even though the part numbers were differentfrom the parts books. One was a liquid and the other a fan...... I noticed this same scenario on my Ford Excursion vs. a superduty.... etc. It pays to dig deeper of rebuilding hard to find items.... Just my .02

They're the Up-Dator grooved pistons. They came with new wrist pins but no needle bearings.

Yeah that doesn't surprise me too much that they are the same bearings on a Cyclone and Liquifire, but unfortunately I'm doubtful that any of the other ones work on a Dator. It's just such a unique motor. It doesn't hurt to measure though.

The Dator was the only Deere to use a 19mm pin, & other than that a Kawi
( KT150A-B ) 292 Single the only other engine to use a 19mm pin also I believe, UNLESS something of the today sleds use that size pin??
You might try Wiseco part number B1036 ( 19 X 24 X 24.8 ) IF it's still a good number or still in production.. That is the one shown for the 292 Kawi single Cyl.
The new Dator Wiseco Pistons use a bearing ( Un-Numbered ) that is
19 mm X ( about ) 23.114mm OD X 23.4188 mm Length. You MIGHT be able to purchase this from Wiseco??
