I just bought a Polaris - PWC

Post by johnnycyclone »

Went over to Indiana to pick this up. It's a 2002 Polaris Virage, with a blown engine, but it should be an easy fix. The price was right, $750 and it included the double trailer, which I really don't need but it was cheap. So you can see I wasn't in Indiana picking up a sled, besides I think the Amber boys have Indiana picked pretty clean of John Deere Sleds. :D

This is what I have been working on all spring, the red one was actually started 16 months ago, and was a complete restoration, which included a new crate engine. The yellow one had a blown engine, which has since been rebuilt, with a little help from Jerome, yes he does more than snowmobile cranks. We took them out on Lake Erie this past Sunday and had a blast. It was great to smell that two stroke smell again, especially after the miserable winter last year. Now that these are done, I can get back on the sled projects.

Was it a new engine or one from SBT? The SBT motors have treated me well and you can get a two year unlimited, no fault warranty as well. Have used a couple of them.

Yes, it is originally from SBT, but I am the second owner, so no warranty. I bought it off of a guy in Texas that ran out of patience, and cash on the one he was paying a mechanic to work on. The guy was up to $1600 hundred on it, and when they tried to fire the motor, there wasn't any spark. The diagnosis from the mechanic was a fried electronics box, and that a new one would be another $300, that's when he called it quits, and decided to part out the ski. I bought everything off of the ski he could unbolt, and ship for $800. A complete engine, exhaust, water box, complete pump, and all electronics including the MFD, which worked also. It was a great deal and I was pretty lucky in finding it. The funny thing about it was, after I got it all together, it fired right up, no electrical issues. So I don't know what the deal was before, but it must have fixed itself when it was shipped. :lol22:

I take it then you have some PWC's?
