Lost Out On One But 2 More Show Up

Post by mikehjd »

So after loosing out on the 340S I was sitting around home yesterday and a guy down the road called that knows we collect old Jd tractors and said his was for sale as he had lost interest in it. I went over there and bought a very nice JD A that should be an easy restoration. He owned the JD dealership and sold it years ago and retired. I was telling him about my JD sleds and he said he has one in the shed I should buy, he takes me over to a shed and opens the door and says if you go over to the far corner and move some of the junk he said its under there. I start digging and uncovered an nice 83 snowfire with a bad piston, he said it quit years ago he discovered it was a bad piston and never fixed it. After I got home I had some time to kill so I called about a lead a friend gave me about a guy who had a nice spitfire he wanted to sell. I called the guy and went out there and there was a sprintfire with a bad piston(same story as the other one blew it years ago and never fixed it but he bought the parts so it just needs to be put together). Never seen a sprintfire or a snowfire in this area now I have both and got them the same day. Funny how things work out.

Hey, I'm heading home on Sunday,1300 miles, been in Edmonton for three weeks visiting my daughter, her husband and three grand kids. Been looking around up here but found nothing Last time I was up here I dismantled a spitfire and took it home in the trunk of my car, I'll be heading thru Moose Jaw and I see that your north east of saskatoon to much out of the way to visit. Good luck on your find. Jimmy

lol......I remember reading your post about that trip and I had a great chuckle over it. Too bad you didn't score something this time.

Congrats, Mike on finding both a Snowfire and a Sprintfire. They are really sweet sleds to ride. Hope you can post some pics of them soon.

I'm glad to hear it is possible to get one in the trunk of a car. EppJD (Adam) and I were seriously considering tring to get an old motoski in the trunk of his Jetta at Waconia last year. Kind of wished we had tried.
