295/S Engine or Not ?

Post by Sledshack »

I picked this up a couple years ago and just put it on the shelf. I am now trying to decide if I want to find a chassis for it or sell it, but I would like to know for sure that it is a 295/S engine. It looks like the real deal, but the biggest concern I have is that the serial number on the fan housing tag doesn't match the stamped number on the lower case half. Any insight would be great.

Looks like a upside down 6 to me. I think it is a 295/s.

Let me know if you decide sell it. I will be headed through Rhinelander maybe as earlly as tomorrow. I could always change directions and head farthur south west.

I'm wondering if the cases might not have been replaced under warranty or the engine might not have been assembled from parts & someone didn't hand stamp the serial number into the case? The stamp spacing looks to crude for a factory stamped number..

Sorry, just my $.0785 worth

Yeah, it makes me wonder too. I guess it is also possible that whomever stamped the case had the "6" upside-down and made a "9".
