Liquifire engine swaps
As my nic implies, I had once planned on installing a Kawi 4/6 engine into a Liquifire. But someone really needed the 4/6 engine I had planned on using, so it never came about. And ever since, I've still been keen on building a Liq with more go under the hood. Last winter, I found a very nice 1980 Liquifire that has some engine issues and I hope to someday make this my sleeper Deere. I remember seeing a thread somewhere in here about a Liquifire with a Polaris 650 triple installed but can't seem to find it now. I thought that was pretty sweet but I'm thinking it would be a pretty heavy mill for a Liq. I recently found a 96 XLT with a good mill in it and am now considering the possibilities of installing the 600 monoblock triple in my Liquifire. It's actually a light engine for a triple and the XLT engines are quite long lived if left stock (I now have 14,900 miles on my 1994 XLT and have only replaced the base gasket on it in all those miles). Has anyone else done an XLT engine swap into a Liquifire? If so, did you hit any real stumbling blocks as far as fit goes?

Re: Liquifire engine swaps
First website peak at my Liquidator clone/restro mod that I put a 1998 Polaris Indy 500 engine, clutch etc in. Plan to unveil and enjoy at the poker run. Just tieing up the loose ends at this point.
Liquifire 4/6 it can be done not too much trouble, granted the engine I put in is not quite as stout as what you are talking about. Not by me though, someone with more mechanical skills than I have but it did not create too much trouble.

I used polAris triple motor mounts in my triple install. You have to change the angle on them to get them to fit correctly. Then you have to mod some of the bulk head for clearance, alot of screwing around but it can be done. If you have any questions feel free to e mail me. I chose to mount mine solid for obvious reasons.... Would love to help if I can.......

Re: Liquifire engine swaps
Thanks to everyone for the replies and the offers of assistance. That Dator should fly! I likely will not begin the engine swap until spring because I have too many projects to finish up right now. But I should have the 96 XLT runnable by sunday to do some testing. The sled is pretty beat looking however the engine seems like it's in decent shape aside from the compression being just a tad low so I'll be rebuilding it before I drop the mill into the Liq.
The engine that is currently in my Liq is the original but someone has installed standard (not power jet) Mikunis on it and it's missing the airbox. I never did try to start it. The guy I bought it from said he had it running well and then it started running like crap. It still has good compression so it shouldn't be anything too serious. So when I get the engine out of it in the spring, I'll have at least some good Liquifire engine parts available.
