1982 Liquifire resurrection

Post by Danzig »

Starting a resurrection on a 1982 Liquifire. This is a clean sled, minimal issues, 700 + miles. Going to make it an original runner. No painting. Just clean, upgrade and go.

Problems to note to begin with:
Hasnt ran in 2 years
Carbs dirty, jetting in question as with all machines, one carb has a broken powerjet nipple on the carb body.
temp gauge is broken at the engine
needs a seat recovery, very useable now
windshield has scratches and some minor crack
gas tank grommet and pick up hose
oil tank line cracked at tank
coolant overflow line cracked

The plan get running, clean and go:
Progress to date is its running, the carb is corrected with the broken powerjet nipple. Carbs were cleaned internally with spray carb cleaner reinstalled and sprayed premix into carbs, pulled the rope 2 pulls it was running. Carbs are now off and soaking in cleaner, unsure of jetting due to varnish deposits on brass fittings. Fuel line to carbs has been upgraded to lime green clear hoses. Off to go shopping today...pics coming soon.

adventurous day today,

Carbs rebuilt today, new fuel lines on the powerjet circuit and vent hoses, all internal components documented and all match perfectly. Compression check done 140 each jug. One issue, mag side jug dead, will only fire on full choke which leaves me to believe mag side crank seal is bad.

Yippy..you watchin how this is going Mr. Deere ?
