Please identify this seat

Post by ljm »

This seat was on a 80 Liquifire.

Looks like a Dator seat but the front is different.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Lloyd

What you have is a 80-84 Liquifire wood base , with liquidator foam and rear tank and a aftermarket seat cover.

Thats what it looks like to me.Looks like someone has modified it to fit the new breed series,By the way they notched the foam out. Is the tank still in the seat.Sure way to tell pt # on it will tell the whole story  Brock

Tank is still in the seat

Where on the tank would the part # be?

Not sure about the tank but I think the rest looks like 78 Liquifire.

I believe the 1980-84 Liquifire seats had that cut out in the front of the seat to cover the extra capacity of the gas tanks and the 1978's did not. The 1978's were solid foam right to the tank. I believe it is a 1980-84 foam piece that got modified.

I agree with what your saying but that damn rear taillight and the angle from the hump on the seat to the taillight are saying something else to me. I think the 80-84 front of the seat would have more height in it than the 78's. Could you post some pics next to a stock 80-84 Liquifire? Or maybe some dimensions?

I will post some pics later of it beside a 80-84 Liquifire seat.

It is wider and maybe a little higher than a 80-84 seat. The height might be from the plywood on the bottom.

Do the Dator seats have Styrofoam under the seat foam?

It could be the 78 Liquifire seat that was sub'd for the Dators when all the Dator seats were gone, & someone installed the rear tank back in it????

Just a thought........

Ok Guys

From what I have found out. My belief is it is a Dator seat theat has had the foam modified and a plywood base put on so it would fit a 80-84 Liquifire.

Now .What might it be worth?

Any sugestions as to how to sell it?

Take bids off hear? or Ebay? or any other sugestions?

Seeing how I am not first on the list I vote for ebay. To be fair you should make up your own price than go to the first guy on the list. If he does'nt want it go to the next guy. Maybe ebay would be the best. You got to ask yourself if you found something you wanted how would you like the seller to sell it. Whatever you do keep me posted, I sure would like a shot at it.

It's against policy here at jdsleds to take bids. You place it in the classifieds at a given price or place it on Ebay.
