Liquidator Tie Rods

Post by DLDeere »

I grabbed a ski on my Dator and pulled sideways to turn the sled around, something gave and the skis were no longer parallel. I pulled the ski the other way and they were fairly back in line. So further inspection and the top tie rod, or drag link as some manuals refer to it, has a bend in it. Is it supposed to have a bend or is it supposed to be straight? In the JD parts catalog, it looks like there is a bend in it. In the manuals, they all look straight. This is the tie rod that connects from the handle bars to the right ski.

At the Baraboo show a couple of years ago, I grabbed the front of Wanie's Dator with the idea of moving it...Dators are heavy...correction...Dators weigh a TON! After just about taking my arms out of their sockets, I said screw it, lets get the sled mover.

I helped move the collection of dators at millbank last year, they rival wide track OMC's for weight.

The most fun part was lifting Mitch's up in the air to put it on the stands. You could really tell the weight then!

Good thing it had not rained or those stands would have sunk.

Still amazes me that such a heavy sled with a 340 engine was so fast.

Just proves Nothing runs (or moves) like a Deere.

Thanks guys! I'm at Waconia with the Dator. Not much snow here! See what the lake is like on Saturday.
