Color for wiring

Post by ski »

I was looking over the FAQ's on testing your CDI and I noticed the color of the wires coming out of the stator and timing ring don't appear. Someone rewired my sled so I don't know the hi speed and low speed color wires to check because I don't have the original plug. Excuse my ignorance but electrical baffles me . I lost spark so I'm trying to check it.

Three wires.... common, high and low.

You should find a combination (pair) that gives the specified ohm reading for high and low.

If you only find one correct reading than the stator is bad.

Check all splices and non-factory connections as maybe the stator is ok and the problem is external.

Looks like a bad stator....any ideas? Hewtech? NOS? Is one preferred over the other? Are there an y other options? Is there a modern day one that will adapt?

Several members on here have commented on their satisfaction with the Hewtec updated systems.

NOS ones are offered for sale in the classifieds also.

It is your call.
I am not aware of any retrofits to newer style systems but someone may have one in the skunkworks stage.
