Re: bike sought
There aren't many of those left. About 10 yrs ago, I noticed a couple guys on bikes parked across the highway from my place looking at a road map. I went over to see if I could offer them any help (mainly because I saw the bikes were rather old and I wanted to get a better peek at them). They turned out to be a couple of awesome Suzooks.........an RE5 and a Water Buffalo both in pristine condition. I chatted with them for quite awhile and they said they were from Brandon, Manitoba. It sure was nice to see a couple of rare bikes actually out on a road tour. I never did ask their names, but it might be worth your time submitting a wanted ad on ebrandon or on kiliji (Brandon, MB) just in case the RE5 is ever for sale. I swear it was like brand new when I saw it. And it sounded awesome too!

Re: bike sought
Sorry, Todd. I just noticed after taking a second look at your post that you are looking for an R5 and not the RE5 Rotary. I am not familiar with the R5 but if you send me a pm, I can give you some contact info for a guy in Churchbridge, SK who has quite a few old Suzuki bikes kicking around and maybe he could steer you in the right direction.

Re: bike sought
Hiya Todd.........The Water Buffalo is a nickname for the early to mid 1970s Suzuki GT750. It was a 2-stroke liquid cooled triple and I am not quite certain how it acquired the "Water Buffalo" nickname but I always assumed it had something to do with the myriad of exposed hoses and plumbing related to it's liquid cooling. They were pretty quick bikes. Not real easy to find anymore, but likely far more plentiful than the rotary powered RE5. Sure hope you can find an RE5 and it would be awesome if you find a first year model because it had much more unique styling cues than the later ones.
