Wow, good luck with that. In all honesty I would retrace the route he took and look for it. It's a rare commodity and even rarer not broken. I will take all the unbroken ones you find in excess. I have a fellow that is willing to make them but he's extremely busy. It is a needed reproduction part...hint, hint to any entrepreneurs.

Mr. Air.... I do have an extra one here on my old mod sled hood that is un- broken. Are you going to restore this sled or just make it a rider? I am located in souhern Mn. I have no use for it as the hood has been in my rafters for bout 10 years now. To be honest I would like to see it go to someone that is restoring as they are so hard to find...

Hey S Man, I bought the 75 JDX6 from you, if s mechanic doesn't get the grill from you, I'd be interested in the hood and grill.

I think I have a grill that looks ok from the outside but would need glued on or something because the fastens are broken ,i saved it for a race sled part but its just laying here someplace if it would help anyone out , I would be very careful trying to remove one from a hood or it will look like the one I just described that I have wade

Not trying to hijack this thread but while we're talking about 78 grilles, I would love to buy a good one so that Marshall in Rockford, Ohio could reproduce them in fiberglass. I need a good one for the mold.

Thanks for the reply S Man, my plan is to make it a nice looking dependable, occasional rider, some local shows. (she's going to get reproduction stickers too) '. I most likely can repair it good enough for my use so I am interested. If I did not find one me and a buddy were going to fab one out of aluminum. Would like to see them reproduced so if it goes to Winnipeg to make a mold I'm all for it,count me in for a new one.

That would be sweet I500. By the way, my buddy thinks mine blew off some where between St John's and Ithica Mi. He was on U.S. 27 North bound so if any member's on here need one and live in the mid Michigan area there's where to look for a freebe!!

I checked Google Earth satellite imaging and found the grill.

But it was only inches from the front bumper of a Prius in line with the tires.

Sorry to break the bad news treasure hunters.

lwb or the S Man,yep I,m interested in buying. The sled is in pretty good shape, seat has a newer cover on it and other than a windshield and grill she is complete, even came with a spare engine and primary and secondary clutches! I have a 79 El Tegre 5000 that I bought 2 years ago and that see's some trail time with a buddy that has a Merc Snow Twister and a Trail twister. The first snowmobile I drove was a 74 John Deere 300 that my Dad bought new that is still in the family.

OK, checked and I do have one. its actually in pretty good shape. No cracks or gouges , the screw holes in back have small chips in 2 holes but the screws seem to thread in just fine and the other 2 screw holes are in great shape. Just needs to be cleaned up but overall nice.
