custom paint for a 81 Liquifre??

Post by ljm »

I'm not usually a big fan of custom paint jobs on JD sleds. But I have a 81 Liquifire that the tunnel was tapered befor I got it. They did an excellent job on the taper.

I'm planning to put a Kawasaki 4/6 engine in it and a Polaris Indy suspension and track in it. I will ride it on the trails when all done.

I'm considering a custom paint job because it is not a stock JD.

I have a hood off another Liquifre that has been painted JD green.. Doesn't look bad, but would need to be redone.

Should I go with JD green? or stick to the original balck? Or I'm open to sugestions.

Please chime in with your thoughts and sugestions.

By this time next year I plan on have 80,81,82 Liquifres restored. and my 81 custom.
I just need to find an 83 and 84 to complete my set.

Thanks

Lloyd

JD Green or Black?? Neither, both have been done to death. Try another color. Son-in-law Sean has a "black cherry" hood that looks great. If it's going to be a "custom", do something that 1. Makes YOU happy and 2. Is different from the "norm". Just my humble opinion.

I am waiting for someone to shoot one in Pearlesent White.

Or Red Metal Flake like vintage Scorps used.

Here is my custom Liquifire I'm working on. Sour Apple Green. The other color I was knocking around was Burnt Orange.

Off topic, but right after I got my Canyon, I saw a burnt orange Colorado and immediately wished I had got that color instead.

I loved mine and got a lot of compliments on it. I don't like Chevys new orange though!! It's too bright.
