We had these growing up (still do). I remember seeing somewhere that the 340/s put out 47 hp and the Liquidator put out 90 hp. Those seem pretty high for a "stock" 340 fanner and 340 liquid.
Just curious what the experts have to say!
"Real" HP numbers for the Liquidator and 340/s?

47 HP @ 8,000 RPM is correct for the 340/S.
Both 340s and Liquidator engines were 60mm bore x 60mm stroke. 90 HP for the Dator sounds way high to me. I'm thinking the highest HP Kioritz engine Deere used in any of the sleds was 58 HP.

Didn't the ICCSF sactioning body have a cc limit and hp limit for racing? Isn't that why the 78 340 Cross Country was detuned at the exhaust manifold to meet the requirement?

Re: "Real" HP numbers for the Liquidator and 340/s?
ICCSF always had cc limits, but HP limits were enacted on 78. 45 hp was the limit for 78. But before 78, 340cc was limited but hp was not. As I remember 60-65 hp was the rating for the Dator.

Re: "Real" HP numbers for the Liquidator and 340/s?
My friend who raced all of the Deere sleds for the local dealer told me 3 things about the Liquidator.
1) It would "go like hell but not very far".
2) It made 85 horsepower. When it was running.
3) Holy sh*t!.
