Liquidator Clone

Post by cfedorowich »

Good Day Gentlemen! Am new to this Board but have been riding Deere's since 1973.... JDX 4.... I am thinking of creating a Liquidator clone....Starting with a 76 340 Liquifire as a start. Comments or thoughts. Craig

Welcome aboard. Several members here have created Liquidator clones, some more detailed than others. A basic approach would be to install a Liquidator hood ( original or repro) and a 78 rear suspension. This setup would ressemble an "updated" Liquidator. It's really up to you.
Good luck,
Harley

I did a clone couple yrs ago and have had fun with it since. Started with a 76 440 Liquifire. Repop hoods are available, This is what i used. I could have used a liquifire engine and with paint and decals had a nice clone. But doing project like i do I went with a bigger engine. Used a 650 wildcat engine from an 88 wildcat. :bonk: It was alot of work but i wanted something different as I have the real thing too. It has a jd chaincase and suspension from an 80 LF. Track is from the wildcat.

Its all about what what you want in the end its your sled.

Dator repoped hoods are available. Joe Rainville will be back in Texas soon and can help you locate one.

thanks for the comments... and the heads up on the hood. Are the bars on the 79's and above the same as on the Liquidator...aside from the chrome??? Anyone got a line on a Hays hydraulic system? or 78 suspension?... I see that there are cooling parts available...any ideas on a radiator?....for entertainment... had a blast at my first relic run. Gonna have to compete with my brothers cat....picture attached... and my last rest.... a 72 Alpine... was a lot of fun... and great for trail marking... though turned like herding sheep!!!

The '79+ bars are different. You need to get in touch with Kenny/Grumpy/ICCSF108 about his reproduced cross-country bars.

'80+ Liquifire Radiators are pretty common, Joe Rainville used to have tons of them NOS, not sure what his supply level is now, although I don't think that will properly fill the big opening in the hood.

I have reproduced radiator mounting hoops in the New Breed Store, as well as Liquidator air boxes if you are going to use 36mm carbs.

Yes, saw them in the store. and thanks for the info on the bars. Got a technical question....I will be careful not to put too much of that here....I think I will start a Restoration Thread for both the 78 Cross Country and the Clone. But here is the question. Is the tunnel width the same on the 76 as on a 78? Craig

Yes but a 78 has a unique rear bumper. Not a big deal, just a little different.
