What is the upper rpm for a 76 440 Liquifire

Post by PolCat »

Can some one tell me what a safe top RPM for a 76 John Deere 440 Kioritz should be?
I have been riding the Deere Ski out in back, the clutch kicks in around 4000-4200 rpm
and in no time it is over 7000 and I run out of property and have to shut it down.
What would be a top rpm for this motor?
I see the Liquidator runs 7-8,000

At Low alt. sea level to 6000 ft. Clutch engagement should be minimum of ( Deere spec ) 3400-3600 RPM, you real good where you at.. Max Operating RPM/Governed Speed is 7250-7750 RPM..
Dator is 8000-8500 RPM

Thanks Grumpy. I'll have to get it out on the trail and see what it does. For a secondary I am running one from a Ski Doo 500.

I would guess the doo secondary has a stiffer spring and different angle in the helix. It might over rev the motor not letting it shift out all the way. Also the diameter might be different.
