dirty plastic gas tank

Post by 044984 »

My 1980 liquifire had set with gas in tank for 20 years. The fuel dried and the tank was in bad condition. Fuel line and fitting were "glued in". Found something that worked and wanted to share. Flushed tank and pressure washed what I could. Used purple power cleaner- pint to one quart- and allowed it to soak full strength for 24 hours. Then put 1 gallon of boiling water in tank and agitated it for 10 minutes. This was not a miracle fix or a one time fix but after 5 or 6 times of this process the inside of tank looks new.
