295/s speedo drive

Post by Kurts »

Does anyone have a picture of a 295/s speedo drive and the cable?

My cable was junk and I bought a new one on ebay from dennis kirk. I didn't check the partnumber, but it was listed as 295/s. The end at the drive is huge and won't screw on. Either the cable is wrong or the drive is wrong. I suspect the drive is wrong.

I also feel that the speedo reads low, any idea what the ratio is on the drive?

Probably 10:1 ratio as this is very common.

Well, Neither of them are 10:1.

Turns out I had one from a 72 400 on it, and it's about 1.6:1 ratio.

The correct one is 1.4:1 ratio.

Also the drives for the front motor sleds turn backwards from the mid mounts.

I found the original one to the sled, and was able to save it. It had a cable rusted off in the end.
