78 Liquifire

Post by air mechanic »

Did some more drive line checks and work on the 78 Liquifire. Pulled the track drive axle out,had some play on one of the cogged wheels. This machine has the round shaft with a bolt through the wheels. Found the play to be the metal insert in the wheel to shaft. Made up some shim stock to tighten it up and locked it in. Axle bearings and the chain and tensioner looked good so all went back together. Question, what oil did Deere recommend for the chain case? My much newer sleds will use ATF but was thinking that mite not lube the nylon tensioner in this well enough.
