80' Trailfire 440 rebuild! Advice and opinons welcome
Ok I'm new to snowmobiles I have experience riding other peoples, but I've never really worked on one. But I never back down from a challenge. So here it is a few days ago I picked up a 1980 trailfire 440, it is in what I believe is pretty good shape, a few flaws here and there, but by no means bad.
The engine however is another story! The previous owner told me that he didn't have an airbox on it, he said that he took of riding one day, not sure how long said it started to bog down so he went home and stopped it stalled he tried to pull the cord and it was locked up. He said he didn't try anything else. When I figure out how I will post pictures. I do need the pto side jug for sure and piston. If anyone knows where to get them that would be much appreciated. Thanks all. Matt

Just to pull the engine and replace the cranks seals too while you are at it.

I am doing a complete teardown on the engine, can someone chime in on what, if any, other seals or gaskets I will need if I buy the winderosa gasket and seal set? Product Code: GS1048
Thanks
Thanks

I can't there isn't any in stock, I have bad experiences with dennis kirk with my dirtbikes in the past so I don't like dealing with them. You shouldn't need anything else for the motor except for a good sealant for the case when you put it back together.

In that gasket set what are the two large seals that look a lot like crank seals? Was thinking they were crank seals but it shows two different sizes and the trailfire uses the same size at both ends. Anyone have clarification ? Matt maybe, Thanks
