340/s Pistons

Post by skoalmint »

Hey Everyone ! Headed to Wiseco tomorrow to go over the details on getting the 340/s pistons redone . If you are interested in any let me know. We are going to do std bore Just a small amt! 20 overs and 40 overs for the rest of the order.. Also going to check on getting head and base gaskets redone as well. would be nice to have a complete top end rebuild kit . The cost is still up in the air ,Depends on how much we order .So If i get enough response to support this project it will be a go ! Its alot of money to try to come up with up front . So the more i have pre sold will lighten my load. Thanks Brock

Cometic should have the gaskets in their system. Anyone know the jobber numbers?

Hey Brock and Guys,

Nice job stepping up Brock, put me down for 1 or 2 full sets at +0.20". I want the piston kit with wrist pin bearings and gaskets. Do you want pre-payment?

I am really looking forward to the days of not having to sort used jugs and pistons to put a 340/s motor together. I know it's a sizeable investment, but I am sure most all of us 340/s owners applicate the effort.

Thanks bud!

Hey guys here is what i found out . The order will be for 50 pcs ,25 sets . Unless we can get enough interest for 100 pcs ,50 sets.It will save approx 20 a piston. Option #1 Piston, pin, clips 116 each.Option #2 Piston ,pin, clips and bearing 129 each . Option #3 Piston, pin, clips, bearing, head gasket, base gasket, exhaust gasket 155 each. Plus tax and shipping .This price will be on prepaid orders !The order is set up as 10 Standard bores , 30 -20 overs ,and 10 -40 overs . I can still change the order as we need , to make sure everyone gets what they need. We have 2 to 3 weeks before these go into production . Not sure i will do another run unless the demand is there. Thanks guys Brock

Awesome, thanks Brock!

Would you mind sharing with us how this all went down? We've been down this road several times, and I am curious how you did this, and what exactly we are getting.

Talked to Brock tonight. I placed my order and paid right away. Sounds like they are selling quick. I would say get them while you can guys. This may be your one and only chance to get oversized pistons for your 340/s, not to mention the fact, that in my opinion, Wiseco pistons are of the highest quality available. The gaskets are also of the highest quality you will find. You also have to remember that these aren't just 340/4 or 340/5 gaskets. The 340/s used thinner head and cylinder base gaskets. Thicker gaskets = lower compression ratio... Just something to think about.

P.S.

Thats right, I'm back fella....

Well Brian kinda went like this. LOL I have talked to wiseco several times in the past on other little projects. Drove up to wiseco in Mentor Oh, had a hour or so set down w my guy Al ! We discussed what we wanted in this piston ,same as original , weight , design, etc. We decided to make it as close to the original as possible. It will probably be a few grams lighter than the original , for performance gains, as well as making it a better piston. I had a couple pistons that i had gotten from Kenny Heins that were blown up at some point in their life as well as a jug, so we could look at ring pin placement to see if there was anything to be improved on the piston . Technology has came a long way in the past 35 yrs . But it is still going to be a piston that is going to be the exact same overall design as the original, if you look at the two side by side they will look the same. Rings will be available for this piston. Wiseco uses this ring in other applications. Other than that it should be a great replacement for our 340/s . Also went to cometic on the gaskets , Thought Wiseco did it but they sub everything out to Cometic, Got a contact for them , Had a set down w him on the gaskets . He had gaskets that were similar in style but were the wrong thickness possibly /5 gaskets . The head gasket he had on file was the wrong ID (Metal ring) But he now has the correct one . The base gasket he had on file was to thick for the 340/s . So with that said we need to figure out what sizes everyone wants to make sure i have everyone covered. Remember pre paid orders get the pricing as specified above, this project is going to be a go but it is going to wipe me out , so the more i have pre sold makes it alot easier on me. Thanks Guys. Put me down for a set of standards with gaskets. I would be interested in a set of .20 overs too, but might have to pay for them at a later time.

Thanks!
