Comet drive/Salsbury driven clutches on 73 JDX8
I just picked up a decent 1973 JDX8. I noticed the sled has a Comet 100c drive clutch and a Salsbury driven clutch. The sled runs and drives very good. I know the comet 90d driven clutch is what is suppose to be used with the comet drive clutches. Will this hurt anything if i leave this set up the way it is, or how much of a performance issue will there be? any input would be great. Thanks Andy

Depending which belt is on it will change how it performs. If it's the narrower belt for the Salsbury that would bring the RPM it engages at higher because the clutch as to move a little more to engage the belt. I'm not sure how it would act with the wider belt. It might not sit in the secondary correctly.

Good info. Thanks Matt. I will play with, and see how it acts. I know i have a Comet 90d sitting around that just needs a new red spring. I will try to locate a red spring and might just put the correct driven clutch on it
