USXC Vintage class now '84 and older

Post by SnowCrossMark »

USXC has changed the rules for Vintage class to 1984 and older.

https://www.usxcracing.com/index.php/ra ... sses-rules

I hope this brings more Liquifires to the I-500.
1977 340 Liquifire, 2 - 1978 440 Liquifires, 78 cc Clone(#35),
1997 Polaris XCR SE 600 (mistake).....
#400v

I seemed to have been a much better driver when my sled was slower.

Overall good news that the Vintage Class is opened up to 1984, but the impact will probably be minimal. I don't think that it's going to impact the Deere guys significantly, as they had already grandfathered in a later Sportfire since it was so similar to the 80-81 sled. Cat was out for 82-83, and the El Tigre was 500cc from 80-81 & 84, I don't think it will affect those guys a lot. Polaris has a few TXC's in 82, but all the performance sleds were IFS by then and I doubt anyone will race Cutlass's. It does open the Yami guys to run later SS-440's though, and the Ski-Doo guys can run later Blizzards minus the 83-84 9700 and MX 5500's.

At any rate, I hope it helps bring out more vintage racers in general, especially to the I-500. I think there were only about 14-15 entries last year, about half of what there was in the prior years.

Funny, but I am building an older sled for the next time the race happens. Hopefully there is snow for next year!

Well it says in the safety rules that sleds can't have orange paint or decals on them.....

Allan,

It's been an ISR rule in racing for about 12+ years that only the driver can have blaze orange only on himself, and not on his sled. It was to make sure in the heat of things it was easier to ID the driver vs. the sled. I don't think the dull orange stripes of a Liquifire really violate the intent or spirit of that rule.
