Can you rebore a ccw cylinder?
The local machine shop wants to rebore my cylinder (440/22) but it says in the manual that you can't bore over 0.005". Yet you can get 0.025" pistons over size pistons. Anyone know the truth?
Re: Can you rebore a ccw cylinder?
My JD 800 was machined to .04” over bore. They were too bad to get .02” over, so had to go to .04” over. For a CCW 440/22, I believe .04” is maximum, as that is the highest size piston you can find. I believe the .005” the manual is referring to is the piston to cylinder wall gap. Maybe someone else can confirm this, but it’s quite common to have the cylinders bored to 10 over, 20 over, and even 40 over. You can find aftermarket pistons for any of those sizes.

I would agree with jep_800 10 20 and 40 over, just make sure to have piston frist before you spend the time and money boring and then cant find pistons. some pistons sizes are get really hard to find and best be ready to pay up when you do.

A good machine shop won't bore a cylinder without the new oversized pistons. They need to measure the new pistons so they know exactly what dimension to bore the cylinder so the clearance and ring end gap are correct. There's a ton of /22 overbore pistons out there so you shouldn't have a problem finding pistons. I have a 440/22 bored .040" over so it's not an issue. Don't bore the cylinders any larger than you have to. If .020" will clean them up don't go .040". That way if you have to do it again later, you might have the option of .040". You can get them resleeved to STD but it's more expensive. Troy

The TR800 uses the same puller as a 102c: https://www.newbreedparts.com/newbreed/ ... uller.htmljd2805 wrote:Hello I'm new to the forum and I cant figure out how to start a new post.Sorry to jump in to your conversation I have a liquifire 440 1981. what is the best tool to remove the tr800 clutch?
