I have a 1973 John Deere 600 that has a Mikuni carb on it. I am guessing this is not the original carb? Anyways, The number stamped on the carb is 34-386. I am having some problems on understanding which rebuild kit is the correct one? I found one but is says it is for a arctic cat. Does that matter? Also it has a round Mikuni fuel pump, only numbers i found on this were 2x. Should i also rebuild the fuel pump, buy a new one, or is there a way to check these?
Thanks for any help,
Michael

Re: Mikuni carb rebuild kit and fuel pump
Michael,
Yes, a Model 600 sled would have originally came with a Walbro WDA-32. The Mikuni you have which says 34-386 is a VM-34 slide valve carburetor. The most significant part is it's a VM-34. Generally speaking the kits are fairly universal from VM-30 to VM-34. The VM-36 and higher have different kits if I'm remembering correctly. So if the Arctic Cat kit fits a VM-34 it should have parts in it that swaps into your carb.
The round fuel pumps were common for earlier sleds, but the kits are available and easily found. Matt sells them: https://newbreedparts.com/collections/fuel-pump
You can test the pump, but the kits are affordable, so you may as well strip it down, thoroughly clean it, and put in the new parts to ensure it'll work properly.
