My liquifire is 76. The clutch we got apart the bushings all shot. I have about 3 more clutches off jdx 8. Most of them junk. I ordered new comet but it says its listed for Kawasaki motor. I’m assuming the kiroritz has similar power band. These clutches are wore. Wow. Thought maybe i get enough pieces. Doesn’t look like it tho. If i could get cap bushings or sliding shieve i be good.

At the least you need a 102 set up with spring and weights for your particular sled.

The Kawasaki and Kawi powered Deere sleds used the same base clutch. I'm guessing the spec is the same for the CCW/Kioritz engines as well that use a 30mm taper.

There a re a few things you want to pay attention to with this.

1. Most sled cranks have a tapered shaft. I believe comet offers several different bore depths. As long as the fixed sheave doesn't rub the bulkhead. It's not a big deal. You may need to shim the secondary to get the correct offset to properly align the belt sheaves.

2. Don't know if the clutch you ordered had springs and weights. If it does, those weights and spring might not make the clutch preform optimally (on this sled). Honestly this is a subject like asking "what's the best oil", ask 10 guys and you will get 10 different answers.
80 Liquifire (purchased 1996 ~ Running)
80 Liquifire (purchased 2010 ~ Running....Now)
80 Liquifire (purchased 2011 ~ Not running - I officially have a problem now)
83 Snowfire (purchased 2014 father/son restoration project)
78 Spitfire ~ sold (should have been shot for this)

If you haven’t already, you should go to Vintagesnow.com and download the Service and Parts manual for the sled you’re working on. It’ll give you more information about what you need. A 76’ Liquifire clutch needs “R” weights and a Black spring (AD 204115). Kawi engines take different weights and springs. But Brian and Nick are correct the base clutch is the same.

Sheave bushings and cover bushings are available for these clutches if you want to rebuild one. The rollers, pivot pins, buttons, etc are also available, but you have to know which kit to buy otherwise it may not fit into the clutch you are rebuilding. Someplace in the Kioritz / CCW tech help on this site, there’s been lengthy discussions on what you need to replace or rebuild everything. Buying a new clutch will bypass the need, but a lot of us have been in the practice of rebuilding what we have. Usually with a spare in reserve.

I found the post in tech help: Comet Clutch Talk. There, we discuss the part numbers for the sheave bushings and cover plate and how to install them. I made a mistake the first time, in that I didn’t use locktite installing the bushings. I believe Comet recommends that, and I had a bushing pop out on me. Did it a second time with the locktite and haven’t had issues.

Does the 102c in your Liquifire still have the can? This was out of my Cyclone, and I found all the parts to rebuild. This sled takes a white spring and “F” weights, which conveniently is the same weights and spring as my 800 and JDX8. Technically, if I had trouble with this can 102, I could slap on my rebuilt 101c that I have as a spare and it would work identical as the 102.
