‘79 Trailfire 340 Project

Post by Miramichi440 »

Picked up this 1979 Trailfire from the son of the original owner. According to the dealer tag on the hood, it was sold by J A Williams in Cumberland (just east of Ottawa), Ontario. Sled is in good running order, but cosmetics need some tlc.

This is the same model sled I had in high school, and rode while my dad had his ‘78 Liquifire. It’s pretty awesome to see them both in the garage together! First steps will be to tear- down and assess what needs doing, then potentially a full paint job and decal refresh… haven’t really decided yet.

The “Larry” on the hood is the name given to the sled by the original owner. He apparently had a tractor that was called Big Larry. When he bought this machine, he called it Little Larry.

You can follow the restoration process on my YouTube channel:

Nice sled
The only thing that look sad is the seat cover, and that should not be a big problem to fix.
